| Diaphoresis is a
result of hyperactivity of one type of sweat
glands that belong to glands of external
secretion. They are located almost on the whole
surface of the body, but are especially numerous
on palms, feet and in armpits. It is estimated
that even up to 1% of the population suffers from
some type of diaphoresis. Application of BOTOX is a very
effective method of treatment of partial
diaphoresis. Injected into skin the medicine is
recommended for treatment of diaphoresis, and for
many years used in therapy of eye, face and neck
muscles cramp. BOTOX is a perfectly purified
preparation of protein - a butoline toxin type A.
A small dose BOTOX injected into
skin blocks the function of nerves that supply
glands of external secretion, which prevents
secretion of sweat.
First positive changes should be
observed within a week from the treatment. Next
session can be held after the effects of the
first one disappear, approximately after one
month. Nerve block maintains for a few months,
after which new nerve endings appear to replace
the blocked ones. It means that the effect of
treatment maintains for several months but
eventually it disappears. Secretion of sweat will
gradually increase and reach the intensity
observed before the treatment.
